HON. NDIWARI INAUGURATES TASK FORCE TO ENFORCE COMPLIANCE IN YENAGOA
Hon. Bulodisiye Ndiwari, the Executive Chairman of Yenagoa Local Government Area, today officially inaugurated the Yenagoa Local Government Revenue and Transport Compliance Task Force at the Mayor’s Conference Hall, Yenagoa. This initiative aims to ensure order and compliance with government regulations, particularly in the areas of revenue generation and transport operations within the local government area.
The task force is composed of 15 members, with Mr. Collins Gray serving as Chairman and Mr. Ikpilifu Doutimiye as Secretary. Other members include Raymond Otes Enize, Princewill Ayas, God'swill Igwele, Abraham Kwokor, Duba Ebipaniperi Kelvin, Nanaboemi Kenisuomien, Mieseiyefa Samuel, Suoyefa Tunumiegha, Akpana Pirisu, Seimokumoh Akpos, Atemie Atama, Neberi Odunu, and Oti Ebiowei.
Objectives of the Task Force
The task force has been mandated to:
1. Enforce compliance with revenue payments from business owners.
2. Ensure that designated parks are used as intended, thereby eliminating illegal bus loading points.
3. Clamp down on vehicles and tricycles parked illegally within the state capital.
4. Maintain a free flow of traffic at the Zarama Market Road by enforcing strict compliance.
Hon. Ndiwari emphasized the government’s commitment to restoring order and ensuring that Yenagoa becomes a model city. “We cannot sit back and allow people to flout government rules and directives. For Yenagoa to become a town of envy, there must be sanity, and things must be done appropriately,” he stated.
The Chairman highlighted specific illegal loading points that have emerged, including Amassoma Road across the bridge, the flyover leading to Ogbia, Imiringi Road junction, and the outer ring road. He warned against these practices, stressing the safety risks they pose, such as the potential for kidnappings. Ndiwari urged residents to patronize government-approved parks, such as Ekeki Park for intra-State transport and Igbogene Transport Terminal for inter-state travel, as these locations maintain proper vehicle records to enhance safety.
To deter non-compliance, Hon. Ndiwari outlined strict measures for defaulters. Both business owners and transport operators who violate these directives will be handed over to Operation Doo-Akpo for prosecution. If found guilty, they may face imprisonment at the Okaka Correctional Centre.
The Chairman called on the task force to execute their duties diligently, adding that their work is vital for improving the local government’s revenue base and ensuring a safer, more organized Yenagoa.
